FIRST CLASS CURRICULUM

At LaughNLearn, our curriculum draws inspiration from the most respected Early Childhood Education philosophies, combining the Montessori method with the Reggio Emilia approach, all while adhering to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. These approaches enable us to tailor our teaching to the needs of each individual learner, viewing the world through their eyes and focusing on their unique interests.

By placing the child at the center of our educational approach, we ensure that educators, families, and the environment all play vital roles in nurturing a child’s growth. We emphasize four foundational conditions essential for children to thrive: Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression. These pillars support a holistic approach to development, ensuring that each child feels connected, secure, actively involved, and capable of expressing themselves.

Through this integration of educational philosophies, we cultivate a learning environment where children are not only encouraged to explore and discover but are also equipped with the skills and confidence to excel throughout their educational journey. The Montessori approach is integrated into our curriculum through:

1. Hands-on-Learning.
2. A classroom designed at the children’s level allows for the easy exploration of various interests.  
3. Visual and self-correcting Materials.

The Reggio Emilia Approach is integrated through:

1. Documenting children’s progress using many different methods, such as video, photographs, tape recordings, work portfolios, and recorded dictations.
2. The classroom’s curriculum stems from the particular interests of children.  
3. Collaboration is seen as necessary to further a child’s cognitive development. Teachers design groups both large and small that allow children to work together to problem-solve using dialogue, comparisons, negotiations, and other important interpersonal skills.  

 The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) focuses on the domains of development. Social, Emotional, Communication Language and Literacy, Cognitive and Physical. The document outlines the appropriate sequence in each area of development which is an important indication that the child is moving steadily along a sound developmental continuum.
